Obituary of Hennie Dunwoodie
DUNWOODIE, “Hennie” Jacoba Hendrika – Peacefully at home with her family by her side on Sunday, October 16, 2011, Hennie died at the age of 64. Beloved wife of Norman for 37 years. Loving Mum of Angela (Chris) Lambert and second Mum to Valerie (Richard) McCarty and Deborah (Trevor) Shearer. Proud Oma of Paige and Dustin Lambert, Alison and William McCarty and Tabitha Shearer and honourary Oma to Martin, Elizabeth, and Henneke Velthove. Dear sister of Arja Velthove, Bert Velthove, Cornelius (Gerda) Velthove, and Trudy DeHaan; and sister-in-law of Daniel (Marilyn) Dunwoodie, Sheila (Ian) Elliott. Much loved aunt to several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Elizabeth and Jacob Velthove and sister-in-law Pearl (Eric) Hancox. Hennie always had a deep faith and personal relationship with her Heavenly Father which quietly showed itself by doing things for others. As an instinctive nurturer and care giver, her focus was always in bringing joy or comfort to someone else's life. One example, each year a box of warm scarves, hats and mittens for underprivileged children was delivered to the Salvation Army. She was happiest when doing things for other people, including making baby clothes and blankets, or putting together boxes of birthday or Christmas gifts. She had a gentle demeanour that encouraged others to talk and share their lives with her and she always came away knowing more about others than they knew of her. She felt that there was a purpose and meaning in everything, even in the battle with the illness that finally took her life.
