Obituary of Dorothy Marie Hemstreet

HEMSTREET, Dorothy – At Bluewater Health, Sarnia on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at the age of 87. Beloved wife of the late Martin (2004). Dear mother of Anne Wilson & husband Tom, Sault Ste. Marie,  Maureen Vergunst & husband Terry, Camlachie, Mike Hemstreet & wife Kathy, Sarnia, Pat Hemstreet & wife Laurie, Sarnia,  Mary McCormick & husband Bob, Camlachie, Susan Livingston & husband Rob, Forest, and the late Thomas Hemstreet (1991). Loving grandmother of Joseph & Derek Wilson, Jocelyn Vergunst (Craig) & Brian Vergunst (Erica), Natasha & Erica Hemstreet (Steve), Chris Hemstreet (Sarah), Brent Hemstreet & Miranda Hemstreet (Chad), Josh, Dylan & Cody McCormick and Emma Livingston. Great-grandmother of Carter Hemstreet, Fallon Hemstreet, Peyton, Portia and Maxximus Pretty. Sister of Charles Gleason & his wife Maureen. Predeceased by parents Thomas & Mary Gleason, brother Thommie Gleason and sister Betty Bezaire. Dorothy worked at St. Patrick’s High School cafeteria for many years. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s League and was an avid bowler. Visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, on Sunday from 6-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Ross Bartley at St. Benedict’s Church on Monday at 10:00 a.m. Interment Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
