Obituary of Mary Margaret Chryssoulakis
CHRYSSOULAKIS (GIBBS) – We thank God for the life and peaceful passing of Mary Margaret on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Bluewater Health – Palliative Care, Sarnia. Survived by her children Connie (Andris Balodis), Cathy (Tom St. Amand) and John (Colleen); her sister Kay Jones (Jim) and many nieces and nephews. Much loved Granny to Erik and Alex Balodis and Christopher and Patrick St. Amand. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 50 years, Michael; parents Albert and Annie Gibbs, nephews Michael Gibbs and Robert Gibbs and nieces Beatrice MacAvoy and Kathy Robillard. Mary was born in Montreal (1927) and raised on a farm in Glengarry County (Dalkeith). An avid reader, she developed an appreciation of literature and a love of writing. She was a long time member of The Canadian Authors Association and published many poems, articles and short stories. Mary received compassionate and tender care in her final days. The family wishes to thank Dr. Martyn Chilvers, Dr. Melanie Crozier, Dr. Richard Cheong and Dr. Glen Maddison and the angels of the Bluewater Health Palliative Care Unit. Family and friends will be received at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia on Saturday, December 12 from 11:00-1:00 with the funeral liturgy to follow at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice, 475 N. A tree will be planted in memory of Mary Chryssoulakis in the McKenzie & Blundy Memorial Forest. Dedication service Sunday, September 19th, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wawanosh Wetlands Conservation Area.
