Obituary of Geraldine Prudence Gould
GOULD, Geraldine Prudence (née Whitcombe) – Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at Twin Lakes Terrace, in her 93rd year. Loving wife of the late George “Larry” Gould (2009); mother of the late Lynn (Alfred Simpson), the late Susan (David Hamm) and Peter (Carol); grandmother of Shawna (Bruce), Taynar (Melissa), Nicholas, Jennifer (Steve), Jessica, Michael, Jonathon (Jeannine), Matthew (Viktoria) and great-grandmother of Cameron, Matthew and Maya. In her long active life, she was a newswoman in her father’s newspaper, “The Herald”. Serving in the R.C.A.F. in WWII, she met her future husband, George. Together, they started “Gould Paper Products” where she was secretary/treasurer for 31 years. Gerry was a charter member and regent in the Rogers Chapter of the I.O.D.E. A great lover of classical music, she was devoted to the “International Symphony Orchestra”, where she was board treasurer. She loved riding and served on the executive of the “Canadian Pony Club”. A former chairman of the “Western Ontario Child Study Group”, Gerry promoted the nurturing of children. Always “a good hand” for over half a century in her favorite bridge club. Geraldine was a life-long and devoted member of Central United Church, where she served as board secretary. Gerry greatly loved her family and friends. We will miss her. Friends will be received at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia on Saturday, January 23, 2010 from 1-2 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Dr. Mary Anne MacFarlane officiating.
