Obituary of John Chawyk

CHAWYK, John – At Trillium Villa on Friday, March 19, 2010 at the age of 83. Beloved husband of Elizabeth (Ustupsky), Sarnia. Loving father of Daniel Chawyk, Sarnia, Steven Chawyk and wife Dana, London and Mary Ann Harris and husband Bruce, Petrolia. Grandfather of Brian Harris and his wife Natalie and Bradley Harris. Great-grandfather of Simon. Brother of Michael Chawyk, Russia. Predeceased by parents Jerzy & Anna (Rusnak) Chawyk, brother Waclaw and by 2 sisters Mary and Mary. John worked for 27 years at Prestolite until it closed in 1978. After the plant closed John continued working at both the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 62 and Manley’s. John was very proud to be one of the original parishioners of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church and he helped doing what was needed to be done to build the church. Visitation at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia, on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. where prayers will be offered at 8:15 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. in the McKenzie & Blundy Chapel and will be officiated by Fr. Waclaw Chudy. Interment Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
