Obituary of Robert James Burns

BURNS, ROBERT JAMES - It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Robert "Bob" James Burns, after a brief illness, on Thursday, March 8, 2007 at Bluewater Health - Mitton Street site, at the age of 76. Bob was the much loved husband of Jeanne. Beloved father of Susan Burns and her husband, Brian Brackett of London, Scott Burns and his wife Jane, of Sarnia, and Jeff Burns of Sarnia. Special Poppy to Ryan, Meghan (Adam Bellaire), and Adam (Jennifer Vidmar) Connors, all of London, Mark Brackett, of London, Sandy Hext, of Toronto, and Jennifer Hext, of Sarnia. Will also be missed by Jeanne's sons Dan and Joe Schaber and families. Loved brother of Joanne (Alec) Arnold, of Milton, Pat (Bernice) Burns of Courtright, James (Merle) Burns, of Windsor, Ron (Sharon) Burns, of Corunna, sister-in-law Rita Burns, of Sarnia, and sister-in-law Dorothy (Jack) Obermeyer, of Naples Florida. Predeceased by his wife Bette (1996), his son Mark (1989), brother Tom (2002), and sister Mary Loretta (1956). Bob was a proud Dow retiree, and had a wide circle of friends in Sarnia and at his winter home in Naples, Florida. An avid golfer and tennis player, Bob was rarely far from his golf clubs or his tennis racket. Friends and family may visit on Sunday, March 11 from 6-9 p.m. at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, March 12th at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 1011 Oak Avenue, Sarnia at 11 a.m. Interment at Our Lady of Mercy cemetery. As an expression of sympathy friends who wish may send memorial donations to Family Counselling Centre, Sarnia, or Parkwood Hospital - Neuro Rehabilitation Unit, London, or the charity of their choice.
