Obituary of Dorothy Buchanan Doughty

DOUGHTY, DOROTHY BUCHANAN – At Twin Lakes Terrace, Sarnia, on December 20, 2013. Born September 29, 1922 in Toronto to parents Charles and Robina McKenzie. Beloved wife of the late George Doughty (1983) and Elmer Streicher (1995). Loving mother of Kevin Doughty and his wife Susan, Sarnia, Paul Doughty and his wife Shelley, Toronto and Wendy Doughty-Klingle and her husband James Klingle, Edmonton. Cherished grandmother of Mitchell and Callahan Doughty, Sarnia, Taylor and Cameron Doughty, Toronto and step-grandmother of Francesca Roznicki and her husband Ryan and Kirsten Klingle, Edmonton. Great-grandmother of Finn Roznicki, Edmonton. Born and raised in Toronto, Dorothy worked for 15 years for Kodak Canada before moving to Stratford with her husband George. Dorothy focussed on raising the family over the subsequent years and saw them all attend university and graduate, an accomplishment that both Dorothy and George were very proud of. As her children progressed through school, Dorothy returned to work as the secretary for Central United Church in Stratford. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Stories of what life was like when she was a child or revealing tales of the grandchildren's parents were a favourite during the dinner hour or on afternoon walks.  In her later years Dorothy enjoyed listening to the occurances and current events in her children and grandchildren's lives. A private family service will be held at the Turner & Porter Funeral Home, Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., Toronto. Interment will follow at Parklawn Cemetery, Toronto. As an expression of sympathy friends who wish may send memorial donations to their charity of choice. Arrangements entrusted to the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre Ltd., Sarnia.
