Obituary of John Vernon Fagan-Bywater

FAGAN – BYWATER, John “Jack” Vernon - It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden death of Jack in his 89th year on Friday June 29, 2012 at home. Beloved husband of the late Colleen (2007). He will be missed by his loving sons, Richard (Lorna), Craig (Sharon) and Blake (Suzanne).  Jack was the proud grandfather of Shane, Jesse, Robin, Dustin, Justine, Heidi, Gavin, Daniel, Emilie and John, as well as nine great-grandchildren.  Jack is also survived by his brothers Barry (Jean) and Blain (Cookie), sisters Betty Craig (Len) and Dorothy Filipetti and many nieces and nephews. Jack will be loving missed by his cherished, special friend Florence Rintoul.  Predeceased by his father John Fagan, step-father Alfred Bywater, mother Marjorie Fagan-Bywater and sister Mary Olimer.   Jack and Colleen lived in Orillia then Sarnia, raising their three sons before purchasing Island Lake Lodge in Northern Ontario, where for 20 years they worked side-by-side, providing loving hospitality to their guests and employees alike.  Upon retirement Jack and Colleen gratefully spent their summers on Four Winds Island in Wah-Wash-Kesh Lake and wintered in Homosassa Springs Florida before “settling down” back in Sarnia.  Jack had a passion for playing pool and enjoyed the companionship of his friends at the Strangeway Centre.  The family would like to express their gratitude to Bridget for the loving and compassionate care she gave to Jack and to neighbours, Lori & Dino Deveiga for the many meals and special kindness they showed. Cremation has taken place.  A private family gathering will be held to honour Jack at a later date.    Jack will be sadly missed but forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.   As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Strangeway Community Centre, 260 East Street, Sarnia, N7T 6X7.  Messages of condolence and memories may be left at www.mckenzieblundy.com A tree will be planted in memory of Jack Bywater in the McKenzie & Blundy Memorial Forest.
