Obituary of Gerald Leo Desjarlais

DESJARLAIS, Gerald Leo – At Sumac Lodge on Thursday, March 24, 2011, Gerald died peacefully with family by his side at the age of 84.  Beloved husband of Yvonne (nee Gemus) for 62 years.  Loving father of Alison Maxwell, Marc Desjarlais (Raelène Jourdain), Dave Desjarlais (Linda Grant), Paul (Bonnie) Desjarlais, Jane (Dave) Renwick and Michelle (Harry) Pozdyk.  Proud grandfather to Stephanie, Adam, Alex, Jillian, Hillary, Taylor, Brendan, Laura, Peige, Danielle, Brad, Christopher, Daniel, David, Kellie, Nathaniel and Benjamin.  Gerald was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and worked as a conductor with the CNR.  Special thanks to the staff at Sumac Lodge for their loving care of Gerald and our family.  Friends will be received at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia on Wednesday, March 30th from 2:30-4:30 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be con-celebrated by Fr. Timothy Hogan and Fr. Jim Higgins at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, March 31st at 10 a.m.  Interment Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.  As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to Heart & Stroke Foundation, 774 London Rd., Sarnia  N7T 4Y1 or the Canadian Cancer Society, 714 Lite St., Pt.
