Obituary of Jenny Elizabeth Sowinski

SOWINSKI (nee PTASNICK), Jenny – Peacefully surrounded by her loving family at St. Joseph’s Hospice, Sarnia on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, Jenny died at the age of 88.  Devoted wife (58 years) of the late Joseph A. Sowinski (2003).  Exemplary mother of Walter (Sandi), Kitchener, the late Christina Dochstader (1986), Cathy (Ray) Tomkins, Dennis (Mary Ann), Johanne (Laurie) Fillion and Dean all of Sarnia.  Loving grandmother of Sandra Heim, Michelle Sowinski, Jason (Sarah) Sowinski, Lisa Dochstader, Kevin (Cindy) Dochstader, Christopher (Rosemarie) Tomkins, Randy (Michelle) Tomkins, Jennifer Fillion, Cheryl (Steve) Host, John-Paul (Jessica) Fillion, Amanda (Chris) Fillion, Kendra, Trevor, Katelyn and Joel Sowinski.  Great-grandmother of 11 and great-great-grandmother of 3.  Predeceased by sisters Julie Metron and Mary Woods and by brothers Victor Ptasnick and Walter Ptasnick.  Jenny was defined by her strong faith, love of family, music, oil paintings, legendary cooking, a good game of cards, sense of humour and a smile that would light up any room.  She was a 46 year member of the Catholic Women’s League.  Visitation at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Jim Higgins at St. Joseph Church, Sarnia on Friday at 10 a.m.  Interment Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.  As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice, 475 N.
