Obituary of Andrew Walsh

WALSH, ANDREW - It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Andrew Walsh, Sr., of Sarnia in his 83rd year, on Monday, June 9th, 2008 after a brief illness, at North York General Hospital in Toronto, Ontario. He is predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Mary Teresa Walsh, and leaves behind his children, Mary & Roy Sperring of England, Thomas & Isobel Walsh of Sarnia, Susan & Philip Poonoosamy, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Andrew Jr. & Mona Walsh of Arnold’s Cove, Newfoundland, Brendan & Pina Walsh of Windsor, Ontario, Marie & Garth Pringle of Innisfil, Ontario, Kevin & Shelley Walsh of Calgary, Alberta, Anastasia Walsh of Toronto, and Joanne & David Sims of Toronto. He is also survived by his grandchildren Mark, Rachel, Vanessa, Jacqueline, Philip, Danielle, Christopher, Mary, Andrew, Aiden, Ashleigh, Brittany, Kyle, Caitlyn, Brendan, Katie, Hannah and Evan. He will be remembered fondly by his many family and friends in Canada and England. Born in Grangetown, England, Dad served in the British merchant navy. He emigrated to Canada in 1967 where he was a long standing member of IBEW Local 530 until his retirement in 1991. He was an active member of St. Benedicts Church and Choir. Visitation will be held at McKenzie Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia on Wednesday, June 11 from 2 – 4 p.m. & and 7 – 9 p.m. with prayers offered at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Benedict’s Church at 10 o’clock on the morning of Thursday June 12, 2008. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Messages of condolence and memories may be left at www.mckenzieblundy.com A tree will be planted in memory of Andrew Walsh in the McKenzie & Blundy Memorial Forest. Dedication service Sunday, September 21st, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wawanosh Wetlands Conservation Area.
