VAN DER VOORT, WALTER “VAN” MARSHALL – At Bluewater Health – Norman Site, on Thursday, August 14, 2008, at the age of 85. Van is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years Betty (nee Gormley). Loving father of his four children, Anne (Stuart), David, Paul (Barb), and Brian (Shelli). Cherished grandfather to his ten grandchildren, Evva, Anna, Brett, Cori, Sydney, Tristen, Kalli, Harper, Matthew and Sara, and loving great-grandpa to Christopher. Van was born in Toronto in 1922. He was a veteran of WWII as a member of the RCAF from 1943-1946. After graduating from U of T in Chemical Engineering in 1950, he moved to Sarnia and worked for Polysar (Nova) for 37 years. Van loved golf, opera, and sports, and was an unwavering fan of the Leafs and Argos. Visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia, on Saturday, August 16, 2008 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Fr. Tom Lever at Sacred Heart Church at 11 a.m. Interment at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to the charity of your choice.
