Obituary of Linda Crooks
CROOKS (PRESTON) nee BURRELL - After a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her family and friends at St. Joseph's Hospice, on Wednesday, July 16th, 2014, LINDA CROOKS died at the age of 71 . Beloved wife of the late Douglas Preston (1978) and Gordon Crooks (2004). Loving mother of Steve Preston & his wife Valerie, Newmarket and Jeff Preston & his wife Dina, Sarnia. Step-mother of Barry Crooks & his wife Linda, Sarnia. Cherished grandmother of Victoria Preston, Heather, Joe, Jake & Bob Crooks and great-grandmother of 4. Dear sister-in-law of Wayne Preston, Newmarket, Larry Preston & his wife Alanna, Sharon, David Crooks, England, Sheila Gutteridge England, and Susan Topley & husband Steve, Sarnia. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Dr. Lorne & Alma Burrell. Linda worked for over 25 years as a nurse in the Pediatric Ward, Sarnia General Hospital. Linda & her late husband Gordon were the co-founders of Bluewater Musical Productions, a musical theatre group for youth. She enjoyed travelling and had been on 15 cruises. Linda loved to sing and was a member of the Central United Church Choir, the International Symphony Singers and the Polysar Glee Club for many years. The family would like to express their gratitude to Linda's dearest friends, Marge, Chris and Margaret, for their love and support. Also thank you to the doctors and staff at the St. Joseph's Hospice for their compassion and care. Visitation will be held at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, Friday, 2-4 & 7-9 p.m., July 25th, 2014. A Celebration of Linda's life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, July 26th at Central United Church, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Don Lockett.
