Obituary of Josephine "Josie" Maria Renes

RENES-VAN GOETHEM (Wygergangs), Josephine “Josie” - Peacefully with her daughter by her side, Josie passed away at Marshall Gowland Manor on Saturday January 6, 2018 in her 84^th year. Loving mother of Nancy (Bruce) Cater and grandmother of Heather (Jim), Tiffany, Bryan and Tyler Cater. Stepmother to Tonny (Cees) Westgeest and John (Sharon) Schurink. Step grandmother to Mark (Tirza) Westgeest and step great grandmother to Sam Westgeest. Survived by her brother Henry (Ingrid) Wygergangs, sister-in-law Nellie Wygergangs and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Lambertus and Antonia Wygergangs; her first husband Ed Van Goethem (1987); her second husband Bert Renes (2015); her brothers Joe, Peter and Albert; and her sisters Mary and Jane. Josie was born in Berlicum, Netherlands and came to the Sarnia area with her parents and siblings in 1950. In 1993, she married Bert Renes and lived in London until she moved back to Sarnia in May 2017. She will be lovingly remembered by all her extended family and friends in Canada and Holland. We will all remember Josie as a loving, caring and generous person who always put the needs of others ahead of her own. We want to thank all the staff at Marshall Gowland Manor for their patience and exceptional care. Friends and family will be received at McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 431 N. Christina St. Sarnia on Thursday January 11, 2018 at 7 – 9 p.m.  Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday January 12, 2018 at 11:00, at Sacred Heart Church.
