Obituary of Mary Cathrine Oakes

OAKES, Mary Cathrine – Peacefully with family by her side, Mary Cathrine Oakes died at Bluewater Health on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at the age of 80.  Loving and devoted sister of Ann Oakes and the late Joseph Oakes, Sarnia.  Also survived by many cousins. Predeceased by her parents Bud & Margaret Oakes.  Mary was a medical secretary for over 20 years. She was generous to a fault.  Mary spent hours and hours crocheting blankets which she gave to hospice, nursing homes, churches, international students and others who needed them.  She volunteered many hours with Meals on Wheels.  Mary was very spiritual and a life-long member of Our Lady of Mercy Church where she helped in many ministries within the church. Visitation will be held at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia, Monday, April 2, 2018 from 2:00-4:00 p.m.   Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated  at Our Lady of Mercy Church at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3^rd.   Cremation to follow. Private family interment at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.  As an expression of sympathy, friends who wish may send memorial donations to the St. Vincent De Paul, 106 East St., Sarnia, N7T 3R1.
