Obituary of Leo Joseph Tourigny
TOURIGNY- Leo Joseph, - With his family by his side, at Vision Nursing Home, Leo Tourigny died on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at the age of 85. Loving father of Michelle Lucy (David), Vernon, B.C., Mark Tourigny (Julie), Sarnia and Serge Bowness (Stacey), Thunder Bay. Cherished grandfather of Danielle Hornung (Paul), John, Michael and Matthew Tourigny and Emma and Kasey Bowness. Great-grandfather of Ava and Ella Hornung. Dear brother of Simone Lachapelle (late Rene), Helen Lajoie (late Gaston), Roger Tourigny (Pam) and Diane Rowbothom (Fred). Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Gaston and Cecile Tourigny and his first wife Judy Postill. Leo was a proud 35 year member of UA Local 663. He was a Master Plumber and owner of Empire Plumbing & Heating, Empire Mechanical and Libra Mechanical for over 30 years. Leo finished his career doing what he loved best – working “on the tools” – until his retirement in 2007. He enjoyed being with people and loved hanging out with his cronies at his favourite watering holes. He was an avid Bridge player and made the highlights in the Observer on many occasions. He will always be remembered as a sharp businessman and as someone who would give the shirt off his back to help family and friends. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N. on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 from 7-9 p.m. The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 1:00p.m. Interment to follow in Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
