Obituary of Joan Labelle

LABELLE, Evelyn Joan - With profound sadness we announce the passing of our mother, Evelyn “Joan” LaBelle at the age of 83 on April 12, 2019 at Fiddick Nursing Home in Petrolia.  Our loving and devoted mother and friend to all whose lives she touched. Joan was predeceased by her loving husband Maurice LaBelle, March 12, 1993, her parents Helen and Frederick Tigwell, brother Bernard and grandson Joseph Charles Wever. Joan is survived by her son Dan and wife Lorie, daughter Cindy and husband Andy and son Dave and wife Stacey. She is also survived by six grandchildren Phil, Beth, Tim, Mike, John & Veronica.  She had nine great grandchildren, Kaileigh, Emma, Connor, Jack, Tavery, Liam, Austin, Aidan, Arron and a great granddaughter on the way. Sister of Mac and his wife Betty. Joan was a remarkable cook and baker. She enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, most especially over the holidays and always said she would put an extra potato in the pot for anyone who wanted to come for a meal. For many years she was an active member of St. Vincent De Paul board and a member of the Catholic Women’s League.  She was skilled with knitting needles, and frequently knitted preemie clothes for the hospital babies.  She loved reading, frequently coming home from the library with bags of books to read.  Most of all she loved her family and instilled in her children strong values that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held April 20, 2019 at Corunna Legion, 350 Albert St., Corunna, ON from 12:00 (noon) to 4:00 p.m. Flowers or donations to the Alzheimer’s Society, 420 N. East St., Suite 8, Sarnia, N7T 6Y5 are welcome.
