Obituary of João "John " Macedo

MACEDO, João (John) – Peacefully with his family by his side, John passed away at Bluewater Health-Palliative Care on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at the age of 89. Beloved husband of Maria Sofia. Dear father of Alice Blais (Harvey), Sarnia and Oscar Macedo (Jennifer), London. Loving vavô of Selina and Austin. Brother of Liberia Torres (Alberto), Azores. Brother-in-law of Maria Macedo, Sarnia. Predeceased by brothers Jacinto Macedo (Lourdes), Arturo Macedo (Lucilia) and Gilberto Macedo and sisters Ana Macedo and Amelia Medeiros (Antonio). Will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, and brothers- and sisters-in-law. John was born in the Azores and immigrated to Canada in 1954. He was an avid gardener and Toronto Maple Leafs fan, and was retired from Labourers Union Local 1089. John was deeply devoted to his family and was known to always have a smile on his face. Visitation at McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St. Sarnia on Friday from 6-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 10 a.m. Interment at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
