Obituary of Joan Glaab

It is with great sadness that our family announces our loving Mother passed peacefully on December 31, 2022 at the age of 90 at Fiddick’s Nursing Home in Petrolia. Joan was born to Jean and Cliff Edgar and was a life-long resident of Sarnia. Joan was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband of 30 years, Charles “Charlie” Glaab (November 1982). She was a wonderful and devoted wife and mother who will be forever missed by her children Michael, Maureen and Marlene. We will miss her hugs, her smiles and her beautiful laugh. Predeceased by her brother James Edgar and his wife Deanna; sister Judy Hamilton and her husband Charles; sister-in-law Mary Margaret McDonald and her husband Cameron and their sons Scott and John; and dear friend and cousin Barbara Dowswell. Survived by brothers-in-law Peter (Kaye) Glaab and John (Linda) Glaab. Dear aunt to; Karen Edgar, Brock (Alexandra) Edgar, Christine Hamilton, Jennifer (Ken) Sandmoen, Anne (Chuck) Archer, Peter (Wendy) Glaab, Janet (Brian) Wiese, Lachlan (Susan) McDonald and Eric McDonald.

Widowed at 50 years of age, Joan missed her husband tremendously but continued to live life with a positive outlook and kindness in her heart. She loved spending time with family and friends and travelling with them, especially to her favourite beach in Siesta Key, Florida. She treasured her life-long friendships with her bridge club, birthday lunch groups and the cottage girls.

Joan was a resident at Fiddick’s since December 2016 and was extremely grateful for the wonderful care, kindness and compassion provided to her. Words can never express how thankful we are to the entire Fiddick’s staff, especially Dr. Enoch Daniel and the Barclay Lane staff.

A private family interment will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
