Obituary of Butch Oana

OANA, “Butch” Edward Theodore – Peacefully at Bluewater Health, Butch Oana died on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at the age of 82.  Beloved husband of Dorothy Oana (nee Huyton).  Loving father of Lori Oana (Al) Asquith, SK and Lynn Devereaux (Brian) of Corunna.  Cherished grandfather of Stephanie Devereaux, Corunna, Jamie Devereaux (Jasmine), Corunna, Alyssa Booker (Rob), Niagara Falls and Kerry Booker (Geordan), Toronto.  Dear brother of Pat Wise, London, Bob Oana, Sarnia, Shirley Hocking, Sarnia, and Elaine Cooper (Dave), Sarnia.  Brother-in-law Brian Huyton, B.C.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his parents Rose & Theodore Oana.  

Before his retirement, Butch worked with the Sarnia Township Works Dept. as a Heavy Equipment Operator.  He then went onto the City of Sarnia Works Dept.  After his retirement he worked at the Sarnia Compost site.  Before moving to Sarnia, Butch enjoyed spending many hours of his younger days working on his neighbours farm.  His passion for horses led to his beloved Lady and Mr. Whiskers.  He could often be found working under the hood of his many vehicles.  He also enjoyed bowling and playing cards while having a few brews with the boys.  Butch was deeply loved and will be missed by many.  May his enormous strength help and guide us to continue on.  The family wishes to express their gratitude for the excellent care given by the Bluewater Health staff during his many stays, along with the Sarnia Fire Dept. and the Sarnia paramedics.

Visitation will be held at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 Christina St. N. on Tuesday January 24, 2023, from 3-7pm A celebration of life will be held at McKenzie & Blundy immediately following visitation.  Cremation to follow.
