Obituary of William Neil Hall

HALL, William Neil “Bill” – Bill passed away suddenly at Bluewater Health on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at the age of 89. Beloved husband of 60 years to the late Patricia “Gerry” Hall (2016). Dear father of the late Tony Hall (2017) (Mary Beth), Sarnia and Susan Bernier (Alain), Sarnia. Very proud Grandad of Elizabeth Bernier (Daniel Baier), Toronto and Andrew Bernier, Sarnia.  Brother-in-law of Nuala Foley-Felton (Dick), Sarnia and Michael Foley, England. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews in Ontario and England. Predeceased by his parents William (1968) and Florence (2003) Hall. Bill was born in Grangetown, England on Oct. 10, 1933. He endured a war-stricken childhood with courage and grace, going on to serve in the Royal British Air Force in his early twenties. After marrying his sweetheart Gerry and welcoming a son, he immigrated to Canada in 1958 to build a better life for his family. He found work at Belton Lumber and saved enough money to bring his wife and infant son “across the pond” to join him. He rose through the ranks as the company changed ownership to Red-D-Mix and eventually Lafarge Canada, starting as a cement truck driver and retiring as the plant superintendent. After retiring in 1994, Bill & Gerry enjoyed travelling, going on cruises, golfing and spoiling their grandchildren. Bill was a gentle, sweet, loving man who placed his family before all else. Everyone who knew him will immeasurably miss his easy smile, calming presence, sense of humour and unfailing kindness. His care and devotion for his wife during her long battle with Alzheimer’s disease was evident in his daily visits to Gerry in the nursing home.  Bill lived every detail of his life with quiet generosity and love. We are so grateful and blessed to have shared this life with him. A special thank you to the EMS and Bluewater Health ER teams, as well as Mira from Shine at Home and Nuala who were there to help Bill during his hour of need. Visitation will be held at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 Christina St. N. on Monday, February 13, 2023 from 10-11:45 a.m. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 12 noon. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society, 420 N.
