Obituary of James Persichetti
PERSICHETTI, Giacomino (James) – Peacefully, with his family by his side, Jim Persichetti passed away at Bluewater Health on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at the age of 92. He was the beloved husband of the late Irma Persichetti. Jim leaves behind a legacy of love as the devoted father of Vincent (Rose), Frank (Anna), Perry (Christine), the late Lorenzo (1987), Bruno (Elishka), Robert (Maria), Carlo, and Floriano Persichetti. He was cherished as a grandfather, affectionately known as "nonno," by Jamie (Angela), Laura, Paul (Meagan), Steve (Kristin), Sophia, Olivia, Angelina, Sabrina, Sylvia, Robert, and Louisa. Jim was also blessed to be a great grandfather to Lorenzo, Arianna, and Isabelle. He will be deeply missed by his dear siblings Lucio (Yvonne) Persichetti and Alfonso (Edwina) Abbate, as well as his extended family, including sister-in-law Germena Molliicone (late Attilio), sister-in-law Gisella DeSena (late Ennio). Predeceased by sister Josephine (Elvidio) Vennettilli and brother in laws Olindo (Nancy) De Sena and Terry (Lidorina) De Sena. Jim was loved and will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends who were like family to him.
Before Jim became a father himself, he first took on the role of a father figure within his own family. As the eldest boy, he stepped up after the early passing of his father. Later, Jim emigrated from Alvito, Italy, and settled in Canada to start a new life and family with his beloved Irma, all the while continuing to support his mother and siblings in Italy.
Jim lived life on his own terms, unapologetically sharing his opinions with honesty and sincerity; his straightforwardness was a testament to his authenticity. Jim's genuine passion infused everything he did, leaving a lasting impact on those around him. During his voyage across the Atlantic, he delighted fellow passengers with his singing and classical guitar, showcasing his love of music. His enthusiasm extended to bocci ball, hunting, playing piano, winemaking, gardening, and, most notably, anything with wheels. His love of cars and dedication to providing for his growing family led to the founding of J&J Body Shop, where his attention to detail and uncompromising quality quickly became evident.
Later in life, when Irma needed his support, Jim took on the role she had lovingly fulfilled for so many years. He began cooking for the family and the many visitors to the Persichetti household, impressing everyone with his culinary skills. Jim's devotion to his family shone through in every meal he prepared. He cherished life and, above all, treasured the moments spent surrounded by family and friends.
The family would like to thank Father Jan Burczyk, Father Jose Montepeque, Helen Ross and Steve Schwab for all their love and support over the years. Also, special thanks to Dr Stoesser, Dr Dhar, and the 4th floor Medicine unit at BWH.
In the spirit of Jim’s devotion to the Catholic faith and as a member of the Knights of Columbus a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Queen of Peace, Catholic Church on May 24, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Family and friends will be received at the church, one hour prior to mass. Interment to follow at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
