Obituary of Corrie Patrick Lanier

LANIER, Corrie Patrick - As the sun rose on Saturday, June 22, after a brief, yet aggressive battle with cancer, Corrie passed away peacefully at home, in his favourite recliner, with his loving wife, sister, sister-in-law and brother-in-law at his side, and his best little boy Rocket cradled in his arm.

Corrie leaves behind his wife, best friend and partner of 15 years, Paula Rocco. He is also survived by his children, Patrick Lanier, and daughter Grace and her husband Chandler Dunn, his sister, Maureen Newman, his father Carroll Lanier, his brother Mark Lanier and wife Tara, brothers-in-law, Fernando Rocco, John Rocco and his wife Ruthann, and sister-in-law Annamaria Rocco Landry and husband Ivan. Corrie is predeceased by his beloved mother, Patricia Abbott Lanier.

Corrie was the loving and proud uncle and godfather to his nieces and nephews: Faye Guidry, Hannah Guidry, Cole Guidry, Emma Davis, Peter Newman, Ann Lanier, Matteo Rocco, Luca Rocco, Ryan Farrugia, Nicholas Baldassarre and wife Candace, and Leandro Baldassarre and Drea. Great Uncle to Lev Guidry-Voss, Ethan Farrugia, Leandro and Gabriel Baldassarre.

Corrie was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He loved learning and was an amazing student. He loved college football, especially his beloved alma mater LSU. He adored reading, history, philosophy, and religion. He had a wicked sense of humour that left everyone wondering if he was serious or not. He was always joking. Corrie was an avid science fiction fan as well and even managed to convince his wife  that it could be cool.

He had a passionate love for his family and friends, and even more, for animals. He worked in the pet and pet food industry and even had his own program on local television aptly called The Pet Guy, where he could answer any question and solve any issue. He gave a loving home to countless dogs, and his favourite cat, Merlin, and eventually his cherished fur son, Rocket.

Corrie left this world a better place for all of us who shared it with him.  His wife, Paula and the entire family wish to express their deepest thanks to Dr. Crombeen and his angel nurse Theresa for their amazingly compassionate care and providing Corrie with the dignity of being in the home he loved until the end.
